Celebrated Nigerian music producer and movie actor, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known in showbiz as Don Jazzy has made a revelation that he once sold ‘akara’ with his mother at Ajegunle hoping that rich men will pull up and dash him cash.
Speaking as a guest on a recent episode of the Zero Conditions podcast hosted by Motolani Alake, Melody Hassan and Excel Joab Don Jazzy narrated the incidence. ‘I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember sitting down with my mum frying Akara (bean cakes) there, sitting on the bench there in Ajegunle, and any big man that passed by with their Peugeot 504 or Mercedes 230 or whatever would come to buy Akara’, the CEO of Mavin records said.
He continued to explain his desperation at that time by saying, ““I also remember the thought in my head: ‘I wish this man would just look at me and say, Young boy, just take this, I know that you need it’.”
Don Jazzy explained that the poverty and hard beginning he and his family experienced coupled with his humble negging have helped molded him into the man he is today.
