Ghanaian man, Tony, is calling for justice after spending GH¢120,000 to marry his pregnant wife, only to find out he is not the father of the child. Tony narrated his ordeal to Aunty Naa on Oyerepa FM, where he explained that his wife, Belinda Asantewaa, informed him that she was one month pregnant a day before their marriage, and he accepted and went ahead with the wedding. They have been married for 18 months, during which Tony claims he took good care of his wife and the baby.

Tony further explained that after taking full responsibility for the child and naming him, another man went ahead to name the child, claiming to be the biological father. When he confronted Belinda’s family, he was informed that the child’s father is a renowned customs officer, and they did not want the issue to go public.

When I confronted her mother about the issue, she told me the man who named the child was a big man, and he doesn’t want it out in public because when it comes out, it will destroy his marriage,” Tony said.

He claims he was told by the family to list the expenses he incurred during the marriage and naming, which they promised to refund him. Tony complied and submitted his list, but the family has refused to pay him, citing their daughter’s inability to afford it.

I have waited for them for about four months now but haven’t heard from them,” he said, adding that Belinda has been threatening him since the issue came up.

Tony is now demanding that Belinda’s family repay him the GH¢120,000 he spent on her. It is not yet clear what actions Tony intends to take if his demand is not met.
