“I Will Never Be Grateful For Winning A Category That Wasn’t Even Deemed Fit To Be Announced On Stage.-Ayra Starr Slams Organizers Of Headies Awards

Nigerian Musician, Ayra Starr has expressed disdain for the manner in which the award for the Best Female Artiste of the year was presented at the 2023 Headies Awards.

The singer who was awarded the best Female artiste of the year wasn’t happy about the fact that the category wasn’t mentioned live on stage.

Even though other categories were mentioned during the live event which took place on Sunday, 3rd September, 2023, the category for Best Female Artiste of the year was only confirmed after the show had come to an end.

Though it was supposed to be an honor to have won the award, Ayra Starr who was named as winner of the category took offense to the mode of announcing the awards.

The singer took to her X/Twitter handle to write ‘I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage ! Best female artist na beans ? We work hard, every single one of us ! I’ve seen Tiwa record 4 hit songs in the same night , Tems breaths and lives for music , we didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria , you didn’t raise me to settle for less”
